”Orthodontic treatment, usually with braces, is most often used to improve the appearance and alignment of crooked, protruding or crowded teeth, and to correct problems with the bite.
Will braces work for you?
We offer fast, clear and removable orthodontics to be able to offer your braces that fit with your lifestyle. We combine innovative technology with the highest level of experience to help you get the smile you have always wanted.
How do braces work?
All orthodontics works under the same principles. A gentle force is applied, gradually, onto your teeth to move your tooth into a more ideal position. Because all of your teeth fit together, tightly like a jigsaw puzzle, you will quite often need to move all of your teeth to fully correct crowding and alignment.
Who can have them?
Orthodontic treatment is typically only started after most of a child’s adult teeth have started to come through. This is usually when they’re about 12 years old, but depends on how many of their adult teeth have come through and the growth of their face and jaws.
Orthodontic treatment for adults can begin at any age and has become increasingly popular with the advent of invisible braces such as Invisalign®
How do I start?
You can start almost immediately, but your teeth must be healthy. Orthodontic treatment will not begin unless you have a good standard of oral hygiene as orthodontic treatment can increase the risk of tooth decay and gum problems. You must have had a general dental exam in the last 12months and not have any outstanding general dental treatment.
You can start with a Free iTero Scan or with an Orthodontic Consultation.
What brace options are there?
Traditional & Tooth Coloured
Traditional braces are small square brackets which are attached to your teeth for the duration of your treatment. These brackets are moved using a thin wire, which is held in place using tiny elastic bands, also known as ligatures. We also offer tooth coloured brackets which work in the same way but are more aesthetic, discreet solution.
Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a virtually invisible aligner system to improve your smile; it’s a series of clear plastic removable aligners, no wires, no brackets which makes them comfortable and extremely hard to notice. Because they are removable, they give you the freedom to live your lifestyle. But, you have to be honest! Will you be committed to wearing them for 22hours day?
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are a modern, invisible alternative to conventional braces. The brackets are fitted to the back, lingual side, of teeth, making them truly invisible! Speech can be a little affected while your soft tissues adapt but, we use very low-profile brackets to minimise discomfort. Typically your tongue adapts within 3days and 99% of our lingual patients would agree that really is the worth it for the ultimate option in discreet orthodontics.
Suresmile Advanced
Dr Anthony Lam is the clinical lead in the UK for suresmile advanced, an innovative brace wire technology that allows us to reduce your treatment time by up to 40% (6-9 months). Intricate robotic bends are put into custom brace wires using a 3D scan and virtual simulations of your teeth. You can upgrade traditional braces with suresmile wires, but all lingual treatments come with suresmile advanced as standard.
